For two years, I had an ongoing battle with ducks and a Night Heron that fell in love with my boat. Each time I’d come down to the boat, there’d be giant splats on the decks, lines, boom cover, helm cover, etc.
I tried plastic owls, snakes, reflectors, and noise makers, and nothing worked. In frustration, I decided to design something myself.
I came up with two versions, one for the decks and one for the railing. Using both, I have not seen the bird since. However, I do feel bad for the person he likely moved over to. Sorry about that.
If you have the same problem, reach out and I can talk to you about making a system to solve your bird issues.

Deck Version:
A weighted base sits on decks and flatter surfaces. The top dome had thin stainless-steel wires in it that deter the birds as they get caught in their feathers. The top part slowly moves and spins in the wind to create a visual distraction as well. A hole is provided in the base to tie a safety line to.
Railing Version:
Clamps secure a strip that has stainless steel wires in it. The wires angle out and when several units are side-by-side, a protective deterrent is created. To use your boat and not have them in the way, they can be unclipped and removed or just simply rotated down so they are out of the way. The wires are so thin that they are nearly invisible beyond about 20 feet.
